Amila de Mel's house in Colombo, Colombia, is a monument to an architectural movement that combines contemporary living, the natural world, and the past. Built using shipping containers, the house has been transformed into private spaces, bedrooms, and kitchen-bathroom combos. A towering metal shed serves as a cover for the containers and can be transformed into a common space. The design prioritizes environmental sensitivity, rejecting rigid functional constraints and using materials from the past. The house has been designed to accommodate changing tastes and demands without straying from its original blueprint, creating a succession of spaces that evoke a ruin enveloped in jungle.
